Hi, I’m Valerie Phillips—co-founder of Turning Tides Marketing, proudly based in the stunning mountain-meets-water region of North Idaho. With over a decade of experience working in public health programs across nonprofits and government organizations, I’ve spent years using marketing to connect people to the resources that matter most. Now, I bring that same passion to helping small businesses and nonprofits shine in their communities.
Turning Tides Marketing launched in 2025 to give brands the clarity, confidence, and creative spark they need to thrive. Inspired by a lifelong love for the ocean, Jess and I built this company on the belief that marketing should feel like catching your breath by the sea—calm, clear, and energizing.
Our mission is simple: to help you create a cohesive brand and message that turns heads (and tides), all while building systems that raise awareness and drive impact.

My journey (both personal and professional) has taught me the power of resilience, the beauty of storytelling, and the magic that happens when people feel seen and supported.

I’m a Disney-and-Star-Wars-loving, crime-doc-binge-watching, always-glue-gunning-something kind of person who believes in chasing big dreams and showing up with heart.
